WHO IS ARMIEL?
Armiel Chandler is an award-winning filmmaker, director, writer, and content creator. Since the age of 17, his goal has been to create content that diversifies the industry and inspires the youth. His work has earned him features on Instagram, Ulta Beauty, Essence, NBC, The Tribeca Film Festival, Seventeen Magazine, Savage X Fenty, SiriusXM Radio, The Today Show, and many more.

Getting his start at the Downtown Community Television Center (DCTV) prepared him for future success. There, he learned various filmmaking and editing skills, which led him to develop short films about the African Diaspora. His strong work ethic and eagerness to learn granted him the opportunity to intern at DCTV’s Young Men of Color program. This allowed him to expand his ideas and create documentaries, narratives, and experimental films on social justice issues. His first documentary, Are You An Oreo?, focused on the stereotypes African American and Afro-Latino men face. By diving into "code-switching" and what it means to be a "safe Black," Are You An Oreo? opened doors for Armiel in the film industry. With the success of his short documentary being featured at BRIC, Maysles Documentary Center, BlackStar Film Festival, and the Paley Center for Media, he had the opportunity to become a teaching artist at DCTV.

While juggling schoolwork and teaching, Armiel remained determined to make his mark. After interning and working at DCTV with the hope of growing as an artist, Armiel received the opportunity to intern at Firelight Media. Working on the Michael Vick 30 for 30 documentaries, Armiel discovered his true passion in the film industry: content creation. After graduating with an Associate's in Fashion Marketing and a Bachelor's in Communications, Armiel combined his film and marketing knowledge to create unique, compelling content. His motto, "Forging the future through film and fashion," has allowed him to break industry barriers as a multifaceted creative.
During the pandemic, Armiel shifted to a full-time content creator, combining his film expertise with his love for fashion. He has built a community of over 100,000 people across social platforms and made it his mission to set a new standard for being plus-size and fashionable. He has worked with multiple brands such as Afterpay, Nike, Fanta, Coach, Dr.Martens, Adidas and more. Recently, he was involved in a lucrative deal with Facebook's Meta We The Culture Program and the Fashion Stars six-month program with Instagram. Armiel’s main goal is to create content that amplifies the voices of people of color and creates opportunities.
